My painting titled "The Angel Tree" is an acrylic painting; the first of a current series I am creating based on a famous live oak tree in Charleston, SC. The tree is fascinating; approximately 700 years old (or older) and protected for all to see on a barrier island of Charleston, Johns Island. It sprawls over a large area with the tree canopy covering over 2000 square feet. The trunk is amazingly thick and varied in circumference; with many unusual protrusions as you walk about it. Branches lift up to the sky and bend and twist; some even droop down to the ground and lie upon it for awhile before lifting back up towards the sky. Over 40 varieties of plant species live atop various parts of the trunk or branches. I shot many photos of the tree as I visited the tree and am using my own photos to design the composition of each Angel Tree painting. My painting was created using colors that I often associate with the deep south-pastels that are light and soft. I used the light blues and pale violets to create a sense of peacefulness and warmth. I so hope that my artwork helps all viewers share in my sense of awe as well as peace and warmth. Charleston and it's surrounding islands is a very gorgeous area of this nation and I hope I have fairly represented some of it's beauty. Please visit my ETSY store at JoannCullipART: https://www.etsy.com.shop/JoannCullipART if you are interested in pricing the original painting or an archival quality giclee on canvas reproduction. I have the ability to offer images in sizes that should accommodate a variety of budgets. This painting is on display and also for sale at the Main Branch Art Gallery in Grayling, MI. (989-344-0030)
