This painting titled "Color Filled Trout" was created as part of a series of trout inspired images that originated with the creation of a paddle that I painted as a charity donation for a local marathon race on the Au Sable river, in Michigan. The paddle was filled with trout-some very similar to this painting but also still very varied and playful. The paddle sold at the auction (which funded scholarship monies for high school students in the area of the Au Sable river) and led to my decision to create a series of fish inspired paintings. This particular painting is full of trout that I truly wanted to playfully apply various colors versus stick to the totally realistic colors found on trout. I do study the actual coloration and form of trout but then alter colors subjectively to please my own sense of color combinations. I enjoy showing a variety of 'poses' that one finds in fish photography. My ultimate hope if that the painting will create a sense of enjoyment of both the subject but the sense of joy and fun one can find in examining both the flora and fauna that exists in our beautiful word. In closing, the original painting has now been sold but I will make available giclee images of the orignal in a slightly smaller size than the original painting. I offer a limitied edition run of no more than 75 giclee images will be created.
