This watercolor painting 'The Lower Thaq Falls: Magenta and Green River'. was created after a visit to the upper peninsula. I enjoyed viewing the lower Tahquemenon Falls (which begins with a pond that is fed by the river that pours down through two waterfalls-and Upper and Lower Falls) and took many photographs. I eventually settled upon an early one in which you could view the river after it's rough descent towards the pond and onward. The foliage on trees was abundant and I decided to paint a view that focused on the foliage around the falls and let the water source be a smaller part of the composition. True to my love of creative approach to color; I decided to use some nonobjective color elements and enjoyed contrasting greens with their near complementary color: a pinking magenta. This painting is now listed on my ETSY store website (JoannCullipART...Cap J, Cap C, Cap ART) as an edition of archival quality GICLEE images. The colors-printed on a fine quality water paper- are accurate to the original and should last for hundreds of years. I am willing to create artist's proofs that may be a size different than what I am listing. Should you be interested in either a GICLEE OR the original watercolor painting, please contact me on either this site OR the ETSY store site. Thank you for taking time to view my website. I hope you enjoy the images that you view.
